Sweetshoot Bamboo
Dulcis Bamboo or Sweetshoot Bamboo is
well known for its edible sweet shoots and beautiful arching
canes; some culms offering a subtle light yellow green or cream
colored striping. The Sweetshoot has dense large drooping leaves.
This species is grown in China for its tasty shoots early in
the season.

This beautiful, quick growing, Sweetshoot
bamboo averages about 30 feet height with a diameter of over
3 inches giving it a relatively thick cane for its shorter height.
Runner bamboo bearing erect, medium green culms and a white ring
at the node. Its widely lance-shaped, smooth bright green leaves
are up to 7 inches long. Dulcis means sweet in Latin.
