Multiplex Silver Stripe Bamboo
Bambusa is a large and variable genus
comprised of evergreen clumping bamboo native to China and southeast
Asia. Some of the species become huge, providing valuable timber
as well as edible young shoots. Several are valued for garden
adornment, with one species, Bambusa multiplex, providing numerous
cultivars suitable for screens and general hedging in the south
eastern U.S. species thrive in sun or light shade if provided
with abundant moisture and rich soil.

'Multiplex' will grow 25 30 feet
in height and is a clumping bamboo. Its culms will average 1-2
inches and is identified by a thin, narrow silver stripe along
the length of the bottom few internodes of its culms. It also
produces variegation in a small percentage of its leaves.
Virtually identical in size and growth habit to its parent, can
be utilized in similar scale plantings as 'Greenhedge'.
